Asha Moncrieffe (Ms)
Law Librarian
Ms Asha Moncrieffe is an experienced law librarian with a demonstrated history of managing legal information services in the Caribbean. Her expertise encompasses various aspects of library management, particularly in legal and judicial contexts. She has held key positions in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and St. Kitts and Nevis, including her recent role from 2021 to 2024, where she was instrumental in setting up a law library for the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs in St. Kitts and Nevis. This achievement showcases her commitment to enhancing access to legal information in the region.
Ms. Moncrieffe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Library and Information Studies from The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, and a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership and Management from UWI, St. Augustine.
In 2023, Ms. Moncrieffe became the first Caribbean recipient of the prestigious Schaffer Grant Award from the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Foreign, Comparative, and International Law Special Interest Section (FCIL-SIS). At the AALL Annual Meeting, she presented on the challenges and triumphs of law librarianship in the Caribbean, bringing attention to the unique dynamics of the region and highlighting innovative solutions for advancing legal information services.
Ms. Moncrieffe has also been actively involved with the Caribbean Association of Law Libraries (CARALL), where she delivered her first conference paper in 2018 and served as Secretary from 2018 to 2022.
Throughout her career, she has remained dedicated to promoting access to legal information and enhancing library services through innovative approaches and effective management. Passionate about empowering others through knowledge, Ms. Moncrieffe continues to make meaningful contributions to the field of law librarianship in the Caribbean.
