Principal's Message

Welcome to the Hugh Wooding Law School which is located in the southern Caribbean in the beautiful and culturally rich twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Our diverse student population ensures an unparalleled and rewarding student experience. Our talented team of Course Directors and their Associate Tutors provide robust and practical professional training leading to the award of the Legal Education Certificate for admission to practice law in the Commonwealth Caribbean. Our legal training programme includes practical live client training in our Legal Aid Clinic which is comprised of ten attorneys-at-law and the Director. The Hugh Wooding Law School is committed to quality and institutional effectiveness as evidenced by our continuing registration with the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Law School has an exciting Trial Advocacy and mooting programme and has retained two shields in the Margaret Forte Regional Moot Court Competition, an honour which is reserved for the team with the most wins. Our student teams have participated successfully in international moots and mediation competitions including the Stetson Environmental Law Moot, the Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot, International Criminal Court Trial Competition, University of Leiden’s Children’s Rights Moot Court Competition, Caribbean Court of Justice International Moot Competition. ICC International Commercial Advocacy Mediation Competition and the International Competition for Mediation Advocacy.

Our Student Representative Council actively engages all students in sporting, cultural and fun events throughout the year.
