Director, Legal Aid Clinic

Mr Ashook Balroop is an Attorney-at-Law and the Director of the Legal Aid Clinic at the Hugh Wooding Law School.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of London, a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School, a Master’s degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of the West Indies, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration with Distinction from the Edinburgh School of Business.

Mr Balroop joined the Hugh Wooding Law School as an Associate Tutor in Landlord and Tenant in 2015 and was appointed Director of the Legal Aid Clinic in 2023. In addition to his role at the Clinic, he serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid and Advisory Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, a Senior Ordinary Member of the 38th Council of the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago, and a member of the Disciplinary Committee (2nd Division) of the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago.

Admitted to the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago in 2006, Mr Balroop’s legal career spans both the public and private sectors. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Law at the Faculty of Law, University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, in Trinidad and Tobago.
