The finals of the Annual Hamel-Smith Appellate Moot Court Competition took place on Friday, February 7, 2020. This is an in-house competition where all students of the Hugh Wooding Law School are invited to participate in teams of three. Thirteen teams competed for a place in the finals.

This competition is sponsored by M. Hamel-Smith & Co., providers of legal services in all aspects of corporate and commercial law in Trinidad and Tobago. The competition is dedicated to the memory of the firm’s founder, Mr. Michael Hamel-Smith, whose interest in legal education was well known.

The judges for this year’s competition were: Justice Rolston Nelson, Retired Caribbean Court of Justice Court Judge; the Honourable Mr. Justice Peter Rajkumar, Judge of the Court of Appeal, Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago; and The Honourable Mr. Anthony Gafoor, Chairman of the Tax Appeal Board.

Congratulations to the team of Kevin Lalla, Omari Thompson and Kristal Jackson, winners of the competition.
